im really weary about posting a song of my own because i dont think its a great song and i also kinda hate it but i need to, so here's a song that i wrote thats untitled because i cant come up with song titles.
d, gm
were just messing around, nothing more
weve done this, a couple of times before
i told myself, he wont get in my head
hes in my head
why do you make me cry
even though i know that youre not someone to love
i just cant stay away
baby its in my blood
plus i think i might love you
i have to block you
because youll never say "i love you too"
you dont love me
you only wanna kiss me
you clearly
but i guess thats okay
just another day
of having a constant lump in my throat
why do you make me cry
even though i know that youre not someone to love
i just cant stay away baby its in my blood
plus i think i might love you
i have to block you
because youll never say "i love you too"
dont say you love me
its not true
i know im only one thing to you
dont say you love me
its not true
i know im only one thing to you
dont say you love me
its not true
i know im only one thing to you
dont say you love me
its not true
i know im only one thing to you
so as you can tell, this is full of cliches, but honestly some of the best songs are full cliches. this song is about the classic "i love you but you dont love me back." which is probably one of the most overused song ideas in the world, but its easy to rhyme things with i love you so is was fairly easy to write this song. it took me about a week or so to write, but normally it takes at least two months to finish a song. theres even some songs i started a year ago and i havent been able to finish them because i cant think of the next line or verse. once you get the chorus of a song down, its pretty easy to figure out the verses, and the bridge is even easier, since its just a short part that takes out the repetitiveness of the song, and normally for the bridge, you can use the same chords, or you can switch up the order of the chords.
coming up with ideas for songs is kind of hard, for me at least. as a teenager, i have a lot going on in my life, but nothing exciting enough or something that hasnt already been done. something i took from a favorite artist of mine, Marina and the diamonds, is to come up with a character to write a song about. her entire album, Electric Heart, is based of a character that she came up with. thats what this song is based off of, its from a book i read recently.
in order to write good lyrics, you need some rhymes. one of the most helpful things is just looking up "words that rhyme with ____". theres a website called rhymezone thats super helpful when it comes to this. you also should be able to keep the lyrics relevant to each other. basically just dont start writing about a love song and then throw in lines about how much you love to drink water.
so this is the end of my blog. maybe in the future ill post some more in the future but im done for the time being. i learned a lot from writing this blog. ive learned that im really bad at explaining things, and also im very bad at trying to write in my own voice. but i also learned how to properly make and maintain a blog, which could actually be helpful in the future. by commenting on other peoples blogs has made me realize how different everybody is and how different everybodys writing style is, which is really interesting to see. blog are important because its an easy, free (depending on the website) and fun way to share your thoughts, spread the word, or teach people things.
until next time :))
